Huper Optik is a premium product. But its warranty has a condition that most homeowners do not expect.
Huper Optik is a high-performing film owned by Eastman Chemical Company. Its main limitation for residential buyers: the standard warranty requires the original glass manufacturer's warranty to be in effect at the time of installation. On most older homes, that warranty has expired.
Huper Optik's standard warranty states: "the glass manufacturer's warranty must be in effect at the time of application of HUPER OPTIK window film." For most older homes, where the original glass manufacturer's warranty has expired or the manufacturer no longer exists, this condition voids warranty coverage on the film.

Source 2Reviewers consistently rate Huper Optik's heat rejection as excellent. The product works. The warranty structure is the concrete issue for retrofit applications on older homes, which is the majority of the residential market in southeastern Pennsylvania.
