Window film FAQ

General window film questions

How much does window film installation cost?
Installed cost runs $8 to $28 per square foot depending on film type. Solar and heat films range from $10 to $20 per sq ft installed. Security film runs $10 to $30 per sq ft. Decorative film starts at $10 per sq ft. Most 10-15 window homes fall between $1,000 and $3,000.
How long does window film last?
Quality professionally installed film lasts 10-20+ years. Solar Gard residential films carry a limited lifetime warranty. Commercial installations carry a 12-year warranty. Film degradation is almost always caused by improper installation rather than the film itself.
Does window film work on all types of glass?
Solar and security film works on most standard clear and tinted glass. Dual-pane and tempered glass require specific film types. We assess every window before installation to confirm compatibility and recommend appropriate film.
Will window film void my glass warranty?
Professionally installed window film from a certified installer does not void most manufacturer glass warranties. We recommend confirming with your glass manufacturer before installation if your glass is currently under warranty.
Can window film be removed?
Yes. Window film can be removed without damaging the glass. Removal typically takes 1-2 hours per room. Adhesive residue is cleaned during removal. This makes film a reversible investment compared to glass replacement.

How much does residential window tinting cost?
Residential pricing runs $8 to $28 per square foot installed. Most 10-15 window homes fall between $1,000 and $3,000. We provide free estimates.
How much can window film reduce energy bills?
Quality solar film reduces cooling costs by up to 30%. Southeastern PA homeowners typically save $200 to $500+ annually.

Security film

How effective is security film at stopping break-ins?
Security film significantly delays forced entry by holding shattered glass in place. It's not bulletproof glass, but it creates a meaningful delay that often causes intruders to give up.
Will security film change how my windows look?
No. Anti-intrusion security film is completely clear. It does not change the appearance, tint, or color of your windows.
Will security film lower my insurance premiums?
Many insurers offer premium discounts for properties with security film, particularly for commercial and high-value homes. Ask your insurer before installation to confirm.

Decorative window film

What decorative film options are available?
We offer frosted privacy film, patterned and textured designs, custom branding for commercial spaces, mirrored finishes, and colored tints.
Can decorative film be customized?
Yes. We offer custom-cut logos, patterns, and branding graphics. Popular for conference rooms, storefronts, and retail.
How does it compare to etched glass?
Decorative film costs a fraction of etched or sandblasted glass, looks nearly identical, and can be removed or changed without replacing the glass.
